It is amazing how the IU-Kenya friendship has responded to the Kenyan crisis. One amazing Indianapolis event was the interfaith prayer service held for the people of Kenya. See the article in the Indy Star about the prayer service
(http://www.indystar.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?aid=/20080107/local18/8010703
83&GID=45OWBI4IN2bxI5tWT80VOl0V7XVSlkCR01ogGYlFpCQ%3D). Around 400 people attended, and there were at least 25 Kenyans. They opened the service by singing the Kenya's national anthem. As a dear friend of Kenya put it "this is one way for us to offer the gift of solidarity to all of our friends and colleagues in Kenya and to model what it means to walk alongside Indianapolis' Sister City of Eldoret". As a Kenyan from Eldoret, all I can say to ALL Hoosiers is Asante sana!
